Walking trails in Alta Pusteria
Fully enjoy the nature. If you are visiting Alta Pusteria, you must turn your eyes to nature. Enjoy the view of the legendary, uncontaminated Braies Lake, or the Lake of Dobbiaco completely surrounded by the wood. You can choose walks that take you across prairies or cross the oldest farm holdings of the valley. Enjoy the magnificent panoramas and the highest peaks from points you can easily reach. A contemplative path can be an alternative. Many walks are practicable with strollers or wheelchairs.

Forest path to the Fischleintal Valley
Walking time: 2 ½ hours
Sign-post: red-white 1A;
Difference in altitude: 200 m;
Rewarding walk with benches.
In close proximity to the main square in Sesto over the bridge, then about 50 metres up to a barn, turn left and follow the path between the fences. Turn left at the edge of the forest and hike along the fields until reaching the wide path coming from Moos. Walking upwards we reach the ruins of Haideck Fortress. The path is almost flat and leads through forests and meadows, then through a larch forest to Hotel Dolomitenhof. From here a wide path (closed for traffic) leads to the Talschluss Hut. On the last section of the hike you enjoy an unforgettable view of the Sesto Dolomites.
Sesto - Waldkapelle
Walking time: 1 hour
Sign-post: red-white-red 4d;
Difference in altitude: 230 m;
Short, but recommendable walk.
From the village square you take the mountain path to the Hößlerhöfen farms; turn left and follow the track to the Ladstätterhof farm at the edge of the forest. Now you hike through the forest, again through meadows and into a fir forest, where you will get to the cemetery chapel. During World War I farmers used this chapel as an emergency church, since the parish church had been destroyed by shell fires.
San Candido Thermal Springs (1,333 m)
Walking time: 50 minutes
The start of the hiking path to the Innichen thermal springs can be reached via the Via Baranci path at the southern village border of San Candido. The hiking path leads along the left side of the valley in the direction of Sesto (flat) then you cross the Sesto River and the main road and ascend to the San Candido thermal sources.
Dobbiaco Nuova - Dobbiaco Lake - Educational Path (2 hours)
The hike starts by leaving the main road after approx. 100 metres beyonde the railway crossing and entering the Via del Lago lake path. Hike past the cross-country stadium and the tennis courts over the bridge at the Saghäuser buildings and via a slightly ascending path to Dobbiaco Lake. The nature education path starts to the right. The path consists of 11 stations and invites old and young to discover nature. You'll receive detailed information on flora, fauna and geomorphology of the area. At some stations you can test your practical skills. From Dobbiaco Lake you can hike on the cycling path at Hotel Baur past the lake and back to Dobbiaco.
