Braies Lake
In summer, the lake glimmers in all colours from green to blue, in winter it is covered in ice and snow. In winter and summer the lake provides a starting point for hikes, ski tours, snow-shoe hikes and walks. Also Nordic walkers will find the perfect paths. And all those who want to reach their limits, can try the climbing gardens in summer, and the ice climbing garden in winter.

The legend
A legend tells the story of how the lake developed. According to the legend savages were once digging for precious stones and gold. The local shepherds were jealous and tried to steel the treasures of the gold hunters. They did not succeed however, as the gold hunters opened the underground sources and sank all their precious items into the lake which was formed.
Nature is the programme
In summer you can cross the lake on nostalgic rowing boats. Up to 100 years ago, these boats provided the only possibility of reaching the southern shore of the lake. Those who are brave enough, dive into the ice-cold and crystal-clear water, in order to warm up in the sun after only a few minutes of swimming. Those who prefer it warmer and more comfortable, can let their soul tangle while trying to catch a fish. As we all know, nature provides the best playground for children. Hence the Braies Lake offers special adventures: dipping feet into cold water and feeling rocks, wood, roots, meadows and sand on the bare feet.
