Natural lakes
The Lake of Dobbiaco

The Dobbiaco Lake is found in the Landro Valley which connects Dobbiaco and Cortina, at an altitude of 1,259 metres above sea level. The lake forms part of the Fanes - Senes ? Braies nature park and is one of the few remaining ?moisture-containing? areas in South Tyrol. With its varied vegetation on the embankment, the lake is an ideal resting and nesting place for different types of water fowl ? as well as for those who only breed sporadically and irregularly. During the birds? migration in the Spring and Autumn, it is possible to watch some rare types of fowl.
The Dobbiaco Lake is an intact and relatively undisturbed biotope.
A nature experience trail which leads you around the lake, presents its visitors with 11 stations full of invaluable information about the flora, fauna and geomorphology of this region.
Also hobby anglers will get their money?s worth at the lake. Fishing licences for foreigners are available at the Tourist Association Dobbiaco; daily licences can be obtained at the restaurant at the lake.
