The nature park Three Peaks
Today, nature parks offer special value in the preservation of nature and landscapes, as well as for research and education. The seven South Tyrolean nature parks preserve the variety of the mountain world with its moors, lakes, Alpine meadows, forests, flora and fauna.
The Three Peaks nature park covers an area of approximately 11,635 hectares, which form part of the villages of San Candido, Sesto and Dobbiaco. It is located at the North-Eastern part of the Dolomites-"UNESCO World Natural Heritage" and borders the Pusteria Valley in the North, in the East at the Sesto Valley, in the South at its provincial border to Belluno and in the West at the Landro Valley.
The Three Peaks nature park is renowned for its steep rising rocky walls and interesting and ragged Dolomite stone. The most famous peaks in this region are the "Three Peaks", the "Croda Rossa" and the "Punta Tre Scarperi".
