The "Heimatsteig" (Homeland Trail) forms over the Helm / Monte Elmo a bridge between the two Tyrolean communities of Sexten / Sesto and Sillian (A). The theme path was established on the occasion of the Tyrolean Commemorative Year 1809 – 2009.

The path can be walked from Sexten / Sesto of from Sillian. You can use the bus, which goes back to your starting point (timetable: www.sii.bz.it). The mountain ascent demands a bit of fitness and effort – heed the traditional saying "Go just fast enough till you start puffing and panting!"

 

The path from Sexten / Sesto:

Starting point: Sesto center

Arrival: Sillian center

Altitude: 1.100 m in rise, 1.300 m in descent

Walking time: 6 – 8 hours

Route number: Sexten / Sesto until Mitterberg / Monte di Mezzo nr. 13; Mitterberg / Monte di Mezzo until the peak of Helm / Mt. Elmo nr. 3A; Helm / Mt. Elmo until Sillian nr. 403 and nr. 473
