Intelligent heating saves energy...

Natur_11.jpg

In recent years prices for natural oil increased dramatically. After the wood prices had been very low for many years they have shown a steady increase for about a year. One of the reasons for this is that wood is becoming an ever more favoured source of energy. Since the 1990’s 36 district heating plants fuelled with biomass chips have been commissioned.
District heat is still an ecological and economic alternative to fossil fuels.
Considerable amounts of energy can be saved in the cold periods with simple measures and therefore help to reduce the next heating bill.
Here are a few tips for intelligent energy saving:

  • Proper ventilation. Preferably three times a day for 5 minutes each time.
  • Never leave windows constantly tilted.
Only heat the rooms you are using. Close doors to unheated rooms.
  • To enable hot air to circulate properly, all radiators should be free standing.
  • Try not to use hot air heaters, radiators heat better.
  • Shut blinds and curtains. They insulate against cold.
  • Seal leaky windows and doors.

District heating is important for tourism

The tourist centre Sesto places great emphasis on the careful interaction with nature. The construction of the district heating plant was an important step towards a more environmentally friendly energy supply.

Planners were particularly keen to ensure that the district heating plant blends harmoniously into its surroundings. Framed by the Sesto river and a wooded slope in the South, the district heating plant of the municipality of Sesto was built on a flat meadow. In summer the cycling path to San Candido leads past it, in winter the cross country track.
