Dobbiaco is renowned as an international world cup competition venue. It features 120 km of perfectly groomed cross-country tracks. Alta Pusteria with the villages Sesto, San Candido, Dobbiaco, Villabassa and Braies features a connected cross-country network of 200 km in total. The Val di Landro Valley in Dobbiaco offers a cross-country track in the Dolomites-"UNESCO World Natural Heritage" leading past the world-renowned Three Peaks - hence a unique possibility.
Whether you are training for a ski marathon, testing your limits on the FIS-homologised slopes, or prefer to do your rounds on floodlight tracks at night time (from X-Mass daily from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) - here you will definitely find the right cross-country track for your requirements. The cross-country stadium "Nordic Arena" in Dobbiaco is the ideal setting for beginners, but also an ideal starting point for various cross-country routes.

Nordic Arena Dobbiaco
This modern stadium offers for Dobbiaco a lot of new sportive activities. In the summertime the cross-country-ski-slopes are exchanged by the Corse of Roller skating. The highest climbing-hall of Italy is the highlight of the sport complex. Every year the worldcup of cross-country Tour de Ski comes to Dobbiaco and all the competitions you can see at the stadium.
Major cross-country events in the Dolomites
In December 2003 Dobbiaco was the venue for a World Cup race, which was a great success. In the last Dobbiaco was awarded always the first place for being the most media-friendly organiser. Also in 2012, from 3rd to 5th of January 2012, Dobbiaco is participating at the TOUR DE SKI, where world-class cross-country skiers battle for the gold medal.
Every year, two internationally renowned cross-country races, the Pustertal Valley Ski-Marathon and the Dobbiaco - Cortina cross-country race take place.
For the first time in history, 10 big cross-country villages in the Dolomites present themselves together with the name DolomitiNordicSki: more than 1,000 km of perfectly groomed cross-country tracks are on offer.
The 3 sisters from the Santer familyNathalie, Saskia and Stephanie have grown up with the cross-country sport. The FIS-homologised cross-country slopes in the cross-country stadium baer their name. The sisters reached international fame in biathlon and cross-country skiing. Also the Nordic combination athlete Jochen Strobl has had his first experience on two skis in his village of birth. Furthermore, Ole Einar Bjoerndalen, who is married to Nathalie Santer, had successful competitions in the cross-country stadium in Dobbiaco.
